The society has instituted Fellowship, the highest level of recognition and is reserved for any Life Member fulfilling following criteria and to be recommended by two SAAI Fellows/Honorary members:

(a) Life Member of SAAI for 10 years

(b) Contributions made to SAAI in various capacities include significant contributions made as executive committee member of SAAI and its Chapters, editors of SAAI publications, reviewer of journal articles, organizing national/regional conventions, enrolling large membership, improving financial position of SAAI, presiding over SAAI committee nominated by SAAI Executive Committee for its various activities and/or any other significant contributions made to further the goals of SAAI as professional body in any of the thematic areas at state, national or international level.

(c) Outstanding Professional contribution in one of the following area:

Education: Establishment/improvement of Agricultural Education in India to be judged on the basis of establishment of new Agricultural Institution, design of new courses & contents, guidance to PhD and Masters students leading to recognition of students at national international level. and/or

Research: Pioneering research contribution that lead to greater recognition to Agricultural Profession to be judged on the basis of quality of research publications in highly rated research journals, Citation index, recognitions of research by national/international bodies, patents, product development & commercialization, evidence of adoption of research outcome by stakeholders including farmers. and/or

Field/Extension: Pioneering efforts in field applications of agricultural technologies leading to mass adoption to be judged on the basis of supporting evidence. and/or

Industry: Corporate Member with pioneering efforts in establishment of industry in any recognized field of agricultural and allied sciences that lead to large scale employment of agricultural technocrats and making available quality commercial product of international standards to Indian farmers/consumers. Annual domestic sale and export record. Industry should be at least 15 year old and should have been recognized by central/state Government and evidence of consumer acceptance for its quality product and services to farmers.

Note: Very senior Agricultural Scientist/Extension Worker/Professor with vibrant experience with outstanding contribution in any field of Agricultural sciences should be eligible for awarding 'SAAI Fellow/Honorary Fellow’ and may be exempted from above criteria. These decisions shall be exclusively made by the President SAAI with approval of Executive Committee and should be considered only in exceptionally deserving cases.
